Besides shoots in Paris, or on ski slopes, or in Manhattan’s Central Park, a visit to Vietnam and photos taken in Son Doong, the world’s biggest cave, has been one of the biggest travel highlights for Honeyhair.
“There are just about 200 people allowed to enter the cave each year, therefore to have photos from such a place is quite a rarity. I also discovered an article about me in the local newspaper at that time. I felt honoured on both accounts.”
One of the things I like most about Honeyhair is that the travel and parties never seem a drag for her. She’s always upbeat and sparkling whenever we’ve run into each other on a night out.
Ideally, she explains, “There is a fashion show where I can model some beautiful attire. Then I join the crowd, talk with friends and get to know some new people. I have a drink and then I can have fun in the playroom. See, be seen and play.
“I’ve been many times to Dominatrix, Montreal Fetish Weekend and Fetish Factory in Florida as well. As I said, I hadn’t planned to become a fetish model — even less to make it my job.
“I was totally absorbed by the fetish world and wanted to explore all the events at that time. So it developed into my vacation time during my studies at university.
“People travel to sea for vacation; I packed some latex and headed to some fetish party. It is the advantage of living in central Europe: it is quite close everywhere in Europe.”
This year is already notable for Honeyhair being chosen as a flyer model for Fetish Evolution, to be held in Essen over Easter weekend later this month. (Her shoot with FE organiser Miguel Infante gave us the banner and cover image for this article.)
“Being the flyer model for Fetish Evolution, promoting one of the best fetish events out there, is truly special,” she admits. “I just recall all the icons of the scene who were in the role before me.
“And I was super happy that Brigitte More was the designer providing the costumes for the shoot. Brigitte always creates something special for me.
“She has the sense for what I would love to wear and what looks great on me. We had really a great time with her and with Miguel during the photoshoot.”
It turns out that another big German weekend, the 2005 German Fetish Ball where Honeyhair and I first met, was actually her first big fetish event. “Berlin is much closer to my home and that counted a lot at that time,” she explains.
“I started to attend Fetish Evolution regularly a couple of years later. And I’ve never missed one since — it became my own tradition to spend Easter in Essen. I like both events a lot, each for its own merits.”

“They are usually fascinated by the latex but at the same time they give a somewhat different feel to the pictures,” she observes.
“The alternative/fetish industry has grown and diversified — new models, designers and photographers.
“Naturally I’ve started to pose for female photographers more as well. Furthermore, I’ve noticed some models standing behind the camera as well. Female photographers tend to see me in different light — pun intended!”
‘The session with Alexander Horn was rather fast and productive, but we still managed to shoot amazing photos as well as a short behind-the-scenes video. Alexx was so easy to work with’
What makes a good picture for Honeyhair, and is there anyone inside or outside fetish that she would love to shoot with?
“I like it when there is an unexpected, even shocking, idea behind the photo, when there is a story there. And by viewing it, new details and double meanings are revealed continuously.
“This is the reason I like David LaChapelle. Dear Mr LaChapelle, if you are reading this, my email is honeyhair@honeyhair.net!”
Well a girl can dream. But in reality it seems she’s quite down to earth about her ambitions.
“I don’t really have a list of photographer names I pursue to shoot with. I tend to focus on the present and don’t plan overly big. Dream but don’t force it, if you know what I mean.
“The best things happen somehow naturally, leading one from the other, getting me to work with wonderful people, true artists. Also it seems, I am happy to admit, I’ve got some pretty amazing ‘secret agents’.
“I hear quite often that somebody recommended me for a certain job here and there. It’s an extra commit- ment and I am grateful for the trust people put in me.”
One special memory for her is her impromptu riverside shoot with Alexander Horn in Berlin during last year’s German Fetish Ball Weekend.
Alexx died suddenly not long afterwards, and the shoot produced what would sadly be the last cover of his L-A-Tex website (see gallery below, left).
Honeyhair and I both met Alexx years ago at the GFB and considered him a fixture in the fetish world, and in our lives.
“I was so happy I managed to shoot with him in Berlin last year,” she says. “And it’s especially touching considering the circumstances.
“We had met on many occasions before, had drinks together, chatted, but never happened to find a spot during the busy events for photos, until last year.
“The session was rather fast and productive, but we still managed to shoot amazing photos as well as a short behind-the-scenes video. Alexx was so easy to work with — he let me pose without too much direction and that suited me very well.
“I remember him crouching and lying on the floor just to catch the best picture of me and my reflection in the nearby fountain. He had a keen fetish eye and I am so grateful for the results.
“It’s still weird to talk about him in the past tense. He and his site will always be a legend for me.”
