Dominatrix 2016 reconvenes in December on the outskirts of Amsterdam after a 13-month break. We preview this tenth anniversary edition, which includes this year’s Miss Fetish Europe awards, and look back at last November’s gathering – with the help of more than 200 pictures. This tenth anniversary event sees a re-arrangement of the traditional running order, with the Dinner and Miss Fetish Europe Awards moving to Friday and a new Fashion Pre-Party before the main event on Saturday.
This will be the first Dominatrix event in 13 months, following last year’s decision to take a break from the bi-annual schedule of parties every March as well as November.
This year’s party — tagged Decade of Dominatrix — should have taken place in November. But it was put back a month after the venue erroneously accepted a concert booking on the set-up day before the November date.
Dominatrix 2016 promoter Reinier More decided to move his party so that the venue owners, who are good friends, would not have to pay the €10,000 fee they would have incurred by cancelling the concert.
“With that many tickets already sold by the summer, there was no way I could cancel the party,” Reinier tells The Fetishistas.
“So I contacted everyone who’d paid for tickets and gave them three weeks to decide whether they could still come in December or wanted a refund.
“Everyone who asked for a refund on their tickets got their money back. And the venue helped to compensate a few people who had booked non-refundable travel.
“Sometimes parties are cancelled and people who’ve already bought tickets don’t get their money back. But it is really important to me that I maintain my reputation for treating people the right way,” he adds.
The new weekend schedule for December sees the Dinner/Miss Fetish Europe Awards moving from their early Saturday evening slot to early evening on Friday.
“Having the Dinner before the party on Saturday just caused too much stress for everyone,” Reinier explains.

“A lot of the models attend the Dinner because it is also the Miss Fetish Europe awards. Most of them are also in the fashion shows so they need time to change after the dinner.
“This delays the time the fashion shows can start and means the shows are still running after midnight. And a characteristic of Dutch party audiences is that they don’t want their dancing interrupted after midnight.”
Moving the Dominatrix 2016 Dinner to Friday at 6pm, followed by a slightly later-starting Models Meet & Greet at 9pm (both now taking place at A9 Studios), allows for a more relaxed schedule on Saturday, More adds.
The early evening slot on Saturday originally occupied by the dinner now sees a new programme item, the Fashion Pre-Party at 7pm.
Taking place in the main party venue and accessible to everyone with a ticket for the main party which starts at 9pm, the Fashion Pre-Party will offer a more ambient, socialising environment, rather like that found at the Meet & Greet.
“My idea for the earlier block is to showcase newer and smaller labels, keeping the bigh names for the second block during the main party,” he said.
At the moment, the first-half line up consists of Berlin label Chronomatic, and Iris Thespider, the label under which Iris Trika produced her own designs before she bought House of Harlot, and which she maintains now for custom work etc.
Big labels currently signed up for the second show during the main party are Inner Sanctum and House of Harlot. One more fashion show may be added to the current quartet.
Earlier in the year, we’d heard rumours of models who would normally attend perhaps not being able to make it to the Dominatrix 2016 dinner and MFE awards this year because of the timetable swap from Saturday to Friday.
In general though, Reinier told us, the move to December doesn’t seem to have had the adverse effect some people were predicting.
He does admit, however, that some of the German models who are students may find it difficult to take time off in December, as this is a period of intense exam study for many.
For those who do attend the Friday event, Reinier tells us that this year’s awards have been rationalised down to just two titles: Miss Fetish Europe and Best Up and Coming Model.
This suggests he has now settled on the view that having two runners-up to Miss Fetish Europe as well as the MFE award itself was rather over-egging the pudding in a scene as small as ours.
Competing for the single Miss Fetish Europe prize this December are Dani Divine (UK), Honeyhair (Czech Republic), Lara Aimée (Netherlands), Lara Larsen (Germany), Romanie Smith (UK) and Zara Axerionias (Germany).
This year’s Best Up & Coming Model contestants are Cassidy Rose (Germany), Louise L’Amour (Portugal), Malinn (Sweden), Mandy Xotoxic (Germany), Mery SP (Spain), Misplaced (Germany), Miss Fetilicious (Belgium), Miss Metnal (Sweden), Necrinity (Sweden) and Noise Noire (Germany).
