Libidex move to Islington.
The Libidex move to fashionable Islington probably ranks as one of the worst-kept secrets in the latex clothing world. But now it’s official.
You’ll now find Libidex’s offices and design studio (and the Radical Rubber trade counter) at 3 St Alban’s Place, Islington, London N1 0NX.
The new HQ is behind Caffè Nero in Upper Street and directly opposite Islington Green.
It’s also — although for some reason not mentioned in the Libidex move announcement — a mere stone’s throw from long-established men’s perv emporium Regulation, which is on the other side of the ‘loop’ of St Alban’s Place at number 17a.
So a fetish-motivated visit to the area now provides ‘two birds with one stone’-type possibilities.
But be warned that there is no Libidex showroom at the new address.
“All our stock may be seen at our shop, Liberation, in Covent Garden,” says the label.
If you wish to visit its new studio for a consultation or fitting, or to discuss any particular requirements, you must phone for an appointment.
With the demands of the move, and with the focus of its information output very much on its summer sale — which has just been extended to September 14 — Libidex has had next to nothing to say so far about another piece of company news.
And in this case, the revamps are even more intriguing for following so close on the heels, relatively speaking, of its previous site redesigns.
We’re hoping to get more insight into this once everyone has fully settled in after the Libidex move.
In the meantime, if you are thinking of visiting St Alban’s Place, you might like to know that the closest stations are Angel (Northern Line), Highbury & Islington (Victoria Line and Overground) or Essex Road (National Rail).
You can also reach the new Libidex HQ by bus: numbers 4, 19, 30, 38, 43, 56, 73, 341, 476 and 812 all stop at Islington Green or Upper Street.
There’s no parking in St Alban’s Place itself, but there is a 24-hour car park in the nearby Business Design Centre, and limited pay and display parking in nearby side streets. There’s no congestion charge to pay.
The phone number for Libidex is still the same:
+44 (0)20 3411 7522. But the number for Radical Rubber has changed to +44 (0)20 7354 2472.
