Alexx Horn remembered on day he would have been 48.
Alexx Horn, the much-loved fetish photographer who died unexpectedly on August 8, has been in the thoughts of many people today, September 15 — the day he would have celebrated his 48th birthday.
Many of his fetish friends and admirers who could not attend in person contributed to a fund started by Swedish pal Andrew X Black.
More than 30 people participated, resulting in a donation of €467 being made to nominated charity the Bremen Animal Shelter.
On behalf of these contributors, a memorial PDF card in English and German was sent to Alexx’s close friends Bianca, Holger, Daniel, Lo-Ping, Volker and Claudia prior to the funeral, followed by a printed version for Alexx’s mother Gabriele.
The Fetishistas was represented at the Alexx Horn service by our good friends from Amsterdam, Madieanne Commandeur and Erik PeculiarDesires, and Erik has kindly provided this account of the event:
“At the service, held in a regular funeral parlour, his friends and the remains of his family we were treated to a summary of his life, not excluding the fetish side, but rather stressing that part of him.
“Even though his mother never wanted any part of it, she realised at the time of his death how much a part of him fetish was, and she felt the importance of acknowledging that side and meeting the people that Alexx held so dear.
“Bianca was dressed in her most familiar pieces: those that Alexx photographed most often. Several others also dressed in kink style for the occasion so there was a nice mix of family, fetish and music.
“Grausame Töchter, the band Alexx worked closely with, came by to pay respects and quite a few tears were shed.
“Alexx Horn was an enthusiastic Trekkie, and the service started with the Final Frontier speech by William Shatner, from the original television series. The spoken part was intersected with some music that was important to yet another part of Alex.
“After the service the closest friends and relatives went down the street for cake and hugs, so to speak, while the rest went to Alexx’s favourite hangout, a Spanish-themed bar/restaurant where the crowd would meet on a regular basis.
“After tea, the family joined and we all shared a meal. The ‘in-crowd’ stayed and hung around, took a walk by his home just across the street from the tapas bar, and ordered an ice cream on the terrace there.
“The selection of flavours served up included the photographer’s favourite for all to try, and everyone agreed that, as with Alexx Horn, it was way too sweet.”
After his cremation, Alexx’s ashes were deposited in the family grave.
