Sinéad O’Connor: Westward Bound for ‘dominatrix’ look
Sinéad O’Connor’s forthcoming album I’m Not Bossy, I’m the Boss, released on August 12, features a cover shot of the singer sporting a look that it would be an understatement to describe as ‘a departure from her previous style’.
The image by Irish photographer Donal Moloney presents Ms O’Connor in a sharply cut black bob wig, strong make-up… and a black latex dress from Plymouth perv emporium Westward Bound!
Westward Bound boss Steve Beech told The Western Morning News that Sinéad bought the dress via the internet and it was shot by Moloney in Dublin.
“Great that it is to be the album cover,” Steve added. “I have a genuine admiration for Sinéad O’Connor as an artist and it is this that makes it special for me.”
In a piece published in The Observer’s New Review supplement last Sunday — on the day she stepped in to fill the late Bobby Womak’s spot at Womad — the 47-year-old singer told interviewer Tim Jonze that the image was intended to show that “you can still be sexy with lots of clothes on”.
We doubt many Fetishistas fans would disagree with that. In fact, in this case, we might even go as far as to say that phwoar! is the only term that really does the new look justice.
As an alternative to the regular CD, Sinéad’s web store is offering collectors a limited edition print of the album cover with the first 250 pre-ordered copies of the 12 inch vinyl version.
