Fire delays Marnie Scarlet showcase at Resistance Gallery.
Popular latex burlesque artiste Marnie Scarlet has had to postpone her In The Kingdom Of The Blind showcase at London’s Resistance Gallery owing to a fire at the Bethnal Green venue
The showcase, originally scheduled for Thursday September 4, will now take place at Resistance on November 6, the performer has confirmed.
The nod in the show’s title to the saying “In the country of the blind, the one-eyed man is king” is not of course a comment on Marnie’s performance skills but on the fact that many of her costume hoods only allow her to see with one eye, as in our picture.
Although the date has changed, other details of the original event remain the same. The evening will start at 7.30 pm and will include an exhibition of her striking costumes and (un)wearable art pieces, as well as several performances. Expect inflatable genitalia and other deviant delights to feature!
Photographers who have worked with Marnie or shot her live shows have also been invited to exhibit a favourite image of her from their archives.
Resistance Gallery is at 265 Poyser Street, Bethnal Green, London E2 9RF. Admission to this event is free.
