London Fetish Weekend 2019 preview: 11 events over four days
London Fetish Weekend 2019 arrives at the beginning of October with a four-day, 11-event programme of old favourites and new additions. As this September cover preview reveals, events include a new play party, two nights of Fetish Theatre, two Fetish Archive dates and two fairs – London Alternative Market and Le Boutique Bazaar – boasting a total of 80 exhibitors! Saturday night’s main event, the LFW Dollhouse Ball at Scala, is a collaboration between Team Absolute and ZDR. Read on for detailed schedule plus full LAM and LBB exhibitor lists to help you shop! London Fetish Weekend returns on the first weekend of October to provide a programme of eleven events spread across four days from October 3 to 6.
This year’s programme combines some familiar events with some new additions brought about by changes in the fetish events landscape since last October’s LFW.
LONDON FETISH WEEKEND 2019 OVERVIEW
The popular Fetish Theatre kicks off this year’s festivities with a show on Thursday (and another on Friday) at The Hen & Chickens Theatre, Highbury Corner.
Both nights will include video highlights of the award-winning movie shorts from the first London Fetish Film Festival, which took place at the same venue back in June.
Club Subversion’s closure in November (after the loss to cancer of close collaborator Dave PlayPenz) means that Friday’s traditional Subversion LFW Special has gone.
In its place is a new Friday play event called the Absolute Mischief Play Party, taking place at a secret London SE1 venue.
This year, there will only be one official LFW Saturday night party — the London Fetish Weekend Ball: Dollhouse at Scala, Kings Cross, in collaboration with Zara DuRose’s ZDR Events.
Main event of the weekend, Dollhouse will feature top fetish scene DJs, plus performances by Mistress Amrita and Giada Da Vinci, Constance Peach, Topanga Love and more.
LFW’s organisers have asked us to point out that any other London fetish parties advertised for Saturday Oct 5 are not part of London Fetish Weekend.
Following fetish scene contributions to the Fetish Archive at Bishopsgate Institute, London Fetish Weekend 2019 is hosting two events at the Institute.
First, on Friday, is Fetish Archive Kinky Drinkies, an evening of archive-related fun and a chance to test your knowledge of UK fetish scene history.
Among the quiz questions are brain-teasers on fetish and celebrity from The Fetishistas!
The following afternoon sees a Fetish Archive Kinky Drop In at the same venue — handy for those who couldn’t make it on Friday.
In a move that some may view as controversial, London Alternative Market (LAM), which traditionally happens on the Saturday afternoon of London Fetish Weekend, has now spread its wings to include Sunday too, meaning its second day will run in parallel with Le Boutique Bazaar (LBB).
At publication time, the two fairs are listing around 80 exhibitors between them. Of these, 32 are showing only at LAM, and 30 are showing only at LBB.
Most of LAM’s 40 exhibitors are showing on Saturday, with only about half as many showing on Sunday, including seven that are there on Sunday only.
In addition, eight of the brands showing at LAM on Saturday only then move to LBB on Sunday.
In the interests of clarity, at the end of this article you will find exhibitor lists (correct at publication time) for both markets so you can see exactly which labels you can catch on which days at which venues during the weekend.
Incidentally, the two venues are only 10-15 minutes apart (walking and taking the Northern Line two stops from Bank to Old Street) so it’s perfectly feasible to spend some time at both fairs on Sunday afternoon if you can’t fit LAM in on Saturday.
LAM’s LFW expansion means it is now offering fetish vending and (free) workshops on both days, as well as a new Cabaret evening on Saturday before the LFW Dollhouse Ball kicks off at 10pm.
LAM’s Revolution venue will also be the location for the LFW winding-up After Party on Sunday 6.
Six different weekend passes are available for various combinations of dates, tastes and budgets, all of which offer savings compared with the cost of buying individual tickets for the same events.
Prices for the packages range from £37 for the Rag Doll Pass which gets you a day at both fetish markets plus a night out at Saturday’s Ball, up to Poly-Anna’s Primary Pass at £160, which covers everything.
Individual ticket prices range from free for the Fetish Archive Drop In, and £5 for a couple of the Revolution Bar events and Le Boutique Bazaar (if reserved via the LBB Facebook page), up to £60 for a couple’s ticket to the Ball.
All weekend passes and individual event tickets are subject to booking fees.
