BDSM Dictionary: the French have a word — and a picture — for it!
The BDSM Dictionary (Dictionnaire du BDSM) is a profusely illustrated book newly available from famous Paris erotica publisher and bookshop La Musardine.

Compiled by writer and filmmaker Gala Fur, the BDSM Dictionary is currently available only in French.
But the more than 300 illustrations accompanying the dictionary’s 250 entries surely speak the international language of pervery, making this a potential treat even for the non-French-speakers among us.
Known for her depictions of the great European fetish festivals of the 1990s in Les Soirées de Gala, Gala Fur also explored the diversity of SM practices in Séances and co-directed short films L’Écrivain et Son Chien and Baud’laire Promenes Medor.
She has also authored manuals Osez Tout Savoir sur le SM and Osez les Jeux de Domination et de Soumission.
The BDSM Dictionary includes images by Araki, Claude Alexandre, Alexandre Dupouy, Gilles Berquet, Frederic Fontenoy, Fergus Greer, Peter Hoennemann, Marie L, Guy Lemaire and Pierre Molinier (see self-portrait, right).
Other pictorial contributors include Nathalie Mondot, Philippe Siboni, Romain Slocombe, François Thomas, Tomi Ungerer, Sadie von Paris, Trevor Watson and Yasuji Watanabe.
Other contributing artists include Roland Cat, Fred Le Chevalier, Aurélie Dubois, Pierre Estable, Namio Harukawa, Joko, Mirka Lugosi, Julian Murphy, Marie Morel, Michaela Spiegel, Anne Van Der Linden, Bruno Richard and more.
Gala Fur’s 320-page Dictionnaire du BDSM is available from La Musardine (price €42), FNAC and other good bookstores, as well as from Amazon in France.
