Fergie video: Kim K & other famous ‘MILF’ pals in latex.
The Fergie video ‘MILF$’ has attracted masses of attention thanks to its celebrity-packed, latex-clad cast. Famous moms dropping in on Fergie at her Dairy Dutchess Love Factory include Kim Kardashian West, Chrissy Teigen, Alessandra Ambrosia, Tara Lynn, Natasha Poly and Isabeli Fontana. We discover some wardrobe secrets of this most rubbery confection
Designers such as Atsuko Kudo and Venus Prototype were commissioned by the video’s Swedish stylist and creative director, B Åkerlund, to dress a variety of famous mothers in rubber.
The video’s latex-clad ‘milfs’ — meaning “moms I’d like to follow” according to Fergie — include Kim Kardashian West, Chrissy Teigen, Alessandra Ambrosio, Ciara, Tara Lynn, Devon Aoki, Isabeli Fontana, Amber Valletta and Natasha Poly.
Directed in LA by Colin Tilley, the video — spoken title Milf Money — represents Fergie’s idea of a “MILF Land” where people live in twee pastel-painted houses.
For several commentators, the obvious influence on the style of this Fergie video has been The Stepford Wives. But we think there’s a dollop of Desperate Housewives in there too. See if you agree!
There’s a purple and pink diner staffed by sexy waitresses, a spa where masseurs work topless, and a school where Fergie plays a hot teacher.
Much is made of milf/milk wordplay. There’s a milfman who drives around ogling all the moms from his van. Fergie the waitress serves up milk shakes that are sucked on by her glamorous customers. Fergie takes a bath in milk. Kim takes a milk shower.
Subtle it ain’t. But it is entertaining for sure, and latex fans shouldy enjoy not only the colourful and creative use of their favourite material, but also the chance to speculate about which designers provided which pieces.
Stylist B Åkerlund provided a few peeks into the wardrobe secrets of the Fergie video in an interview with HollywoodReporter.com.
“There was something that attracted me to mixing latex and diamonds, as well as the use of colour, to help create a world where women ruled and there was no limit to what you can do,” she told Stephanie Chan.
“I incorporated corsetry and latex to exaggerate her natural body shape.
“I worked closely with Venus Prototype on her custom white latex Got Milf? top and denim-printed latex shorts. The over-the-knee cowboy boots were made by New York designer Irs.
“The idea was that everything was pumped up with an insanely skinny waist and super tall boots, which created a real-life Kim Barbie.”
The idea for the shower look was to create the illusion that Kim was naked.
“So I had Atsuko Kudo create a layered nude body suit adorned with about 40 wedding rings from Lynn Ban, which was meant to symbolise that she had been married that many times.
“It was important to us that there was a challenging element to this look, so I chose a pair of 10-inch, 18-karat gold-dipped stilettos.”
Release of the celebrity-packed MILF$ video ensured extensive coverage by the celeb-loving US media. Oddly though, all coverage we’ve seen has focused on the visuals, with none of the reports making any mention of the qualities of the music track itself.
Sadly, one thread about the video in FetLife’s Latex Lovers group might bring the singer down to earth with a bump if she were looking for compliments about anything other than the visuals.
Those in this group who commented on the music at all were pretty unanimous in being unimpressed by it — the least generous assessment in 20-plus comments being “a most unpleasant skullfucking”.
But thanks to the all those latex lovelies on display, seems even this wouldn’t deter many of the group from watching it — albeit, perhaps, with the sound off.
The lead single from the singer’s upcoming second studio album Double Dutchess (out later this year), it is released on Interscope (USA) and will.i.am Music Group.
The video, premiered on Vevo on July 1, was directed by Colin Tilley and the stylist/creative director was B Åkerlund.
Famous mothers featured alongside Fergie include Kim Kardashian West, Chrissy Teigen, Alessandra Ambrosio, Ciara, Gemma Ward, Tara Lynn, Devon Aoki, Angela Lindvall, Isabeli Fontana, Amber Valletta, and Natasha Poly as provocatively-clad 1950s housewives.
