PART 2 OF THE KINKEN AWAKES – our three-part fetish event round-up – looks at events planned for Europe over the next 12 months, from July 2021 to June 2022. We cover dates in Denmark, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Switzerland that represent many of Europe’s highest-profile gatherings, from single parties to long weekends. Dates can still change if conditions change, of course. So please do read the Covid Warning below for factors to consider when planning your partying. EUROPEAN FETISH EVENTS 2021: July-December
COVID WARNING: the events listed below reflect their details as advertised at time of publication. But they could still be subject to change in the future, owing to covid related factors beyond organisers’ control, such as government changes to national or local restrictions, travel limitations, or venues pulling out.
The listings here for 2021-22 include Europe’s biggest international fetish events. So anyone thinking of attending from outside an event’s host country, especially in 2021, should pay due heed not just to local regulations but also to all the additional factors that might affect their travel plans both in their countries of departure and arrival.
Such factors include whether the destination country will even allow you in on the date of the event (which at time of writing affects Brits wanting to travel to Germany, for example). If travel is permitted, there may be extra costs for vaccination, testing and quarantine (which of course also has a time cost) to be added to the price of the trip.
Finally, it appears very few travel insurance policies fully cover all the circumstances you might encounter, travelling during the pandemic. So if you want to cover yourself for all eventualities, check online recommendations and read the small print carefully!

German Fetish Ball organiser Xklusiv aims to revive its castle parties with Night of the Masks and Night of Passion on consecutive dates in early September at a venue near Frankfurt. The two events are:

GERMAN FETISH BALL 2021 (tbc)
Europe’s top fetish festival abandoned 2020 for a 2021 return, first in May, then August and now September. Saturday September 25 is the new date for the Ball itself, with the rest of the (smaller scale) programme to be announced, but expected to include FetishGuerilla Revolution on Friday. The full-scale GFB programme will return in 2022, on May 25-29.

WASTELAND BERLIN – UNDERGROUND EDITION
This will be the tenth anniversary of the Berlin edition of Amsterdam’s famous fetish dance party with fetish shows galore. As usual, it will take place at the legendary KitKatClub, which incidentally transformed itself into a temporary covid test centre back in December 2020.

These are provisional 2021 dates for the Munich event postponed from 2020. The weekend normally includes a big Saturday night SubRosaDictum fetish party, and an event called BoundCon Meets Avantgardista has also been promised if the weekend goes ahead.

After having to skip 2021, the non-profit social and play Easter weekend that has taken over FetishEvolution’s old slot returns to Essen’s Bredeney Hotel for another four days of fun, with exclusive fetish use of the hotel. People who stay at the Bredeney pay for their rooms etc but there are no event charges, and other “fetis” can also join in the fun without taking a room.

Savage Wear returns in 2022 to Berlin’s Badehaus to continue its tradition of annual gatherings at the start of each year’s GFB programme — albeit now as an alternative ‘unofficial’ event rather than as the official opening party. The nominal entrance fee and relaxed dresscode make it equally popular with Berliners and visitors from further afield who are in town for the GFB.

GERMAN FETISH BALL WEEKEND 2022
After settling on a smaller GFB for 2021 — currently provisionally set for September — Berlin’s big international fetish festival plans a full-scale return for May 2022’s programme, organised around its traditional Ascension Day Weekendslot. In 2022 there will be no date clashes with the other big German gatherings, W-G-T and BoundCon (see below). However, fans of GFB and Florida Fetish Weekend may find themselves facing a hard choice, as Ascension Day Weekend and Memorial Day Weekend share the same dates in 2022.

Postponed several times, the big Munich BDSM/fetish convention and expo — now under new ownership — is moving to June 2022 to avoid clashing with GFB and W-G-T. This event maintains a core focus on bondage while also attracting many broader fetish exhibitors. Traditionally, the weekend includes a big party hosted by SubRosaDictum.
