Two Circa Press events in London this month will celebrate the publisher’s most recent ventures into the ‘artistic fetish photo-book’ genre.
The first takes place tonight (June 1) at London’s Stash Gallery in the East End.
It marks the opening of a two-week joint exhibition of photography by the Danish duo Vestholm (whose book Secrets is officially published today) and Ifa Brand, the photographer behind Circa’s previous fetish monograph, Boudoir.
Stash Gallery is a part of private members club Vout-O-Reenee’s, where Circa’s second event, its Summer Party, also takes place on June 10. The address for both Circa Press events is The Crypt, 30 Prescot Street, London E1 8BB.
Although tonight’s private view is technically from 6.30 to 8.30pm, the event will apparently continue beyond this, either to 10pm or 11.30pm, depending on which closing time stated on the gallery’s own event page is accurate!
It’s too late now to RSVP for tonight’s event, but Circa boss David Jenkins assures us that if you turn up, you’ll be able to get in (free).
But even if you miss the opening night, you still have two weeks to see the exhibition afterwards.
Friday June 10 sees the second of the Circa Press events, also at Vout-O-Reenees: the Summer Party, which is taking place from 6.30pm to 12.30am.
Among the attractions Kate London will be introducing is a fashion show by designer Nina Doroushi, who will be presenting her latest collection, Velvet and Steel. Also on the bill is burlesque performer Talulah Blue, who’ll be dancing to entrance.
Furthermore, the authors of both Secrets and Boudoir will be in attendance to meet fans and sign their books.
However, we understand that Summer Party acceptances are already at full capacity. So if you didn’t get your RSVP in by last weekend, it is unfortunately too late to accept now.
