The full list of Avantgardista designers at time of writing, and in alphabetical order, is as follows:
baal couture & fashion (leather, Germany)
Benno Von Stein (vegan leather, Germany)
Chiracc Couture (harnesses, Germany)
Chronomatic (latex, Germany)
Cold Cocaïned Heart (fashion, Germany)
ExxEss Latex (latex, USA)
Fernando Berlin (boots/gloves/accessories, Germany)
Fetish Fantaisies (latex, France)
Franklin Tavares (accessories, Israel)
GlanzGlück (latex, Austria)
Inner Sanctum (latex, Germany)
Jazzy Fashion (latex, Austria)
Maniac Latex (latex, Germany)
Rubbella (latex, Netherlands)
Savage Wear (latex, Germany)
Shitake (latex, Germany)
As you can see from this list, more than half the labels are German, more than half specialise in latex, and about half are well-known brands, or at least already familiar beyond their home territories from previous participation in international events.
But importantly, Avantgardista’s debut will also boast a strong presence of new brands and other labels not so familiar from Europe’s major fetish events. Taking a look at some of these…
baal couture & fashion Baal Leather is so new that at this point there aren’t even any pictures available. Label debuts don’t come much fresher!
Chiracc is a new Berlin label by Chira Copp, an award-winning graduate of Munich’s Master School for Fashion. She creates furniture and furnishings, couture clothing, and accessories including a range of harnesses that she’ll be showing at Avantgardista.
Cold Cocaïned Heart is a new fashion label from the Ruhr area that “concentrates on one thing: one-off stories that tell stories”, with decorative designs inspired by anything from grunge to religion.
Franklin Tavares is one of the “extraordinary additions” to Avantgardista’s designer line-up. Based in Tel Aviv, he specialises in headpieces and other exotic items (check out this year’s Midburn/Burning Man collection) and was previously at The Israeli Opera.
GlanzGlück (the name means means ‘shiny luck’) is a new Austrian latex label from Sandra Puppitz, who previously worked for Simon O. The range includes latex clothing and accessories, with a particular focus on steampunk style.
Maniac Latex was founded in Berlin in 2014 by designer Theresa, specialising in distinctive latex for men and couples, with the focus on made-to-measure.
Shitake (aka Follow the Mushroom) doesn’t normally do shows. Located in Mannheim, it’s primarily a hobby brand done for fun in the owner’s spare time. But the quality of the clothes has won many fans among top latex lovers!
Other than a couple of smaller labels that may end up sharing a runway spot, each main designer will typically show around ten outfits.
EXCEPTIONAL: ExxEss Latex will show 20 outfits
Ah yes, the models — or as they’re known at Avantgardista, the Fashionistas.
At time of writing, Avantgardista and its participating designers have secured the services of more than 80 models, including some big fetish names such as Dutch Dame, Honeyhair and Onna Sakura.
And it is inevitable that some of the recruits to this new model army would normally, in other circumstances, have been seen at Dominatrix (which has, after all, a deserved reputation nowadays as a ‘model fest’).
But it is also the case that the Munich event will feature local talent that doesn’t ‘do’ the international circuit, along with others drawn from the fashion world who don’t normally model fetish at all.
The simple truth of it, one suspects, is that Avantgardista’s target audience of ‘ordinary people interested in extraordinary fashion’ will not be expecting latex to be presented exclusively on cohorts of busty fetish girls.
And so to the party. SubRosaDictum’s Space Intruders after-show bash will start at 10pm on Saturday night at Kesselhaus (Lilienthalalee 35), a larger building behind the Kohlebunker in the same venue complex.
So there will be a two-hour overlap with the Showroom, which stays open until midnight. And Space Intruders will finish somewhere between five and six in the morning.
People who want to attend both events but don’t want to wear their fetish outfit for the earlier part of the day can bring it with them and use the party venue’s changing facilities, or of course return to their rooms or homes to change.
(There is, incidentally, an event hotel recommended for those attending Avantgardista from out of town. It’s the Leonardo Royal Hotel at Moosacher Strasse 90, which is reasonably close to the venues.)
Space Intruders enforces the standard SubRosaDictum fetish party dresscode, which provides many options beyond latex (including fancy dress and formal evening wear) and can be found on the Space Intruders page of the SubRosaDictum website.
Space Intruders is always the last SubRosaDictum party of the year, and the hosts always aim to hold it in November. So, Carina explains, it made sense to link it with Avantgardista.
Generally sell-out affairs, and considered by many to be Munich’s best fetish parties, Space Intruders nights always include some surprise stage appearances by fetish celebs.
Attractions will include a bondage stage (which this year is rumoured to be featuring a performance by Dutch Dame in her new rigging role) and a midnight laser show. “There is always something spectacular,” Carina promises.
For more insight into Space Intruders, check out the video at the end of this article, which includes not just great visuals but also lots of interviews from last year’s event (in English, with subtitles where needed).
Plans for Sunday November 12’s concluding event of the Avantgardista weekend are still fluid at time of writing.
All that can be safely said at this point is that it will be some kind of chill-out/farewell gathering based around breakfast, brunch and/or drinks, and might kick off at 10am or later, finishing mid-to-late afternoon.
But let’s face it, a Sunday brunch in Munich isn’t the reason any of us will be choosing to check out the debut of this new German weekend.
So Rosa von Dictum and his SubRosaDictum team can surely afford to be relaxed about the precise nature of this last event in the Avantgardista programme until a little nearer the date!
