A Glimpse of Kink: exhibition of ‘gory to glossiest’ art hits Soho.
A GLIMPSE OF KINK is a central London mixed media exhibition featuring a selection of photographers, performers and practitioners from the British and European fetish and kink scenes – including Venus Raven, Syn Ariad and The London Vagabond. Taking place at a Soho gallery over three days in late June, the event already has only a few tickets left
A Glimpse of Kink is a central London mixed-media exhibition set for late June, featuring photographers, performers and practitioners from the British and European fetish and kink scenes.
Taking place on June 22-24 at the 15 Bateman Street gallery in the heart of Soho, it aims to document kink’s ‘most uncompromising and gory scenarios along with the glossiest aspects of its mainstream aesthetics’.
The organisers say: “In times of censorship affecting art, sexuality and the production of radical content, the event seeks to be an occasion to fight cultural stereotypes and stigmas whilst bringing the community together.”
A Glimpse of Kink will include work by Venus Raven, Syn Ariad, The London Vagabond, Farrukh Hyder, Hal Sinden and many more artists and collaborators.
The team behind A Glimpse of Kink
BOBBIE (curator) — a creative denizen of the London and New York kink scenes since the 1990s.
LIDIA RAVVISO (production) — film director, producer, visual artist and curator, and artistic director of Uncensored Festival;
AMY MITCHELL (design) — designer whose work ranges from immersive site-specific productions to indie shorts, traditional stage shows and recent collaborations with Venus Raven.

VENUS RAVEN: photographer and performer
VENUS RAVEN
Venus Raven is a London-based photographer, performer, poet, professional dominatrix and founder/artistic director of the London Fetish Film Festival.
As a performer Venus explores themes of BDSM and Ritual, with performance credits including Torture Garden, Club Antichrist, Reptile Club, Monster Queen, Panic Sermons/Modern Panic, Psycho Ward and Uncensored Festival.
As a photographer Ms Raven documents the unique creatures and unapologetic kinksters of the fetish world, blending playfulness with brutality and exploring the spectrum of kink and its myriad manifestations.
Her photography has previously been featured in exhibitions in London and Seattle among others. A Glimpse of Kink will present the most comprehensive collection of her work to date.
SYN ARIAD
Syn has been modelling for many years in and out of the fetish scene. For A Glimpse of Kink she represents the archetype of the dominant and dangerous woman, as captured by photographic collaborators and her own creative efforts.
As a lifestyle Mistress and professional dominatrix in London and Brussels, she has developed her own style, with interests, fetishes and skills ranging from bondage, torture, medical play and pet play to sissy/chastity/slut training, latex fetish and domestic slavery — all in “a caring but sadistic style”.
She will provide a glimpse of the multi-faceted underworld she nurtures and feeds from through a multi-media installation featuring the work of many other artists from the fetish scene.
THE LONDON VAGABOND
The London Vagabond are London-based lovers and fetishists who’ve been making work as a couple for around four years.
The male is a self-taught analogue photographer whose interest in photography stems from being a prolific graffiti vandal and who takes a non-conformist and unorthodox approach to his work.
The female has a degree in Fine Art and has had moving image work displayed at the ICA in London, The World Museum in Liverpool, Newlyn Art Gallery in Penzance, New Art Exchange in Nottingham and The Venice Biennale in 2015.
The work they create together comes from two separate perspectives: a submissive male point of view far removed from the typical, often misogynistic male gaze, and a dominant female perspective, which advocates for female empowerment.
THE BARON OF JUXTA CONCEPT
The Baron of Juxta Concept is a Finnish dark arts photographer with a sense of humorous melancholy. His work mostly concentrates on portraiture, in which he captures performers and artists in highly stylised but minimal settings bringing the essence of the persona to the foreground.
SUZIE PINDAR
Suzie Pindar, aka The Naked Artist, is a UK mixed-media artist and photographer. Her work has been reviewed internationally and locally in art magazines and LGBT publications. Identifying as a self-expressive artist, she uses a range of materials in work that is raw, brave and bold.
TARA LI-AN
Artist and photographer Tara Li-An’s work is characterised by hazy boundaries, aberrations of fantasies, esoteric themes and flexible memory. Her interest in portraiture lies in the exploration of one’s shadow self and of the projected self.
JEREMY ADONIS
Jeremy Adonis is a French filmmaker and photographer obsessed with anything visual. Through photography, he creates his own dark universe, mixing shadows, light, colours and shapes to offer an atmosphere bordering on the surreal.
FARRUKH HYDER
Farrukh Hyder is a London-based photographer and filmmaker who specialises in fetish and erotica. He also documents London’s alternative cabaret scene, working with the likes of Torture Garden and Zara DuRose among others.
FEMME FERALE
Femme Ferale is a multidisciplinary mistress of reflections, guiding the viewer — sometimes gently, sometimes forcefully — through a fever dream of truth, fiction, and their juxtaposition, conjured from the dark, fecund corners of the human psyche.

HAL SINDEN
Hal Sinden is an actor, a musician and the managing director of Eulogy Media, which makes music videos for record labels such as Peaceville, Nuclear Blast and others. In his spare time, he makes short films that explore cryptic sensuality, insanity and Syn Ariad.
ROMY
French photographer Romy is currently based in Brussels. After a short spell in advertising, Romy decided to focus on conceptual photography, in particular exploring the different facets of intimacy. She is working on a documentary about being a mistress, with Syn Ariad as a model.
A Glimpse of Kink: time, place, tickets
A Glimpse of Kink takes place at the 15 Bateman Street gallery, 15 Bateman Street, London W1 3AQ on June 22, 23 and 24 2021.
This an 18+ event and mask-wearing is required. General admission times are 5pm – 9.30pm each day.
