ZDR Fairytale party at the Scala celebrates midsummer’s night.
After hosting her first Scala party in January, Zara DuRose (banner, centre) is back at the London venue later this month with ZDR Fairytale, a solstice celebration with added sin. Tony Mitchell previews a party that promises myriad entertainments including performance by Marie Devilreux (banner, left), fashion by Antidote Latex (banner, centre) and walkabouts by Amy Statik (banner, right). The event, taking place just after this year’s summer solstice, promises ‘a friendly environment to play, talk, dance and make new connections’.
Party attractions include kinky canapés, dungeon equipment, discrete play areas, walkabout perfomances and stage shows, two zones for play and dancing, professional photography (if requested) and secure cloakroom.
ZDR adds that it has taken onboard feedback from the January event and is now ‘opening the beautiful glass bar as a dungeon area, leaving the dancefloor for those who want to, well, dance!’.
ZDR Fairytale performers include the multi-talented Marie Devilreux (banner, left), a model and performer (and also latex designer) with the looks of a classic vintage beauty (think Bettie Page) crossed with the vampy style of a horror movie starlet.
Also performing is Kitty Velour (aka The Trap Queen), a stripper-style pole dancer and exotic showgirl notorious for her twerking, pussy pops and split drops! Multi-award winner Kitty is known for her freestyle skills, raw sexual energy and stage presence.
The Crimson Word is an immersive, multi-sensory poetry experience from Debra Watson and Winter James, inviting you to ‘relinquish your inhibitions and submit yourself to the sensuality of words at their most dangerous’. If you find a crimson envelope in your hands, prepare to be blindfolded…
Figure of A will create two special rope installations at ZDR Fairytale — one for the VIP area and a smaller one on the main floor. Founder Anna Kostina, a shibari artist who also makes wearable rope pieces, promises she’ll be “doing a little show” too.
Last but not least, Antidote London Latex and Hippy Poppins will be providing the evening’s fashion show, using pieces made just for ZDR Fairytale.
Antidote is a young custom latex clothing brand designed and made in London by Jennifer Santala. Her declared objective is to create bespoke fetish fantasy costumes that ‘stand out from the crowd and make you look and feel exceptional and extraordinary’.
Part artist, part storyteller, Hippy Poppins crafts ‘imaginative, one-of-a-kind items of wearable art’ — anything from fairy crowns, fascinators and tutus to necklaces, dresses and masks. Vintage and ‘pre-loved’ materials are sourced from markets and junk shops to create pieces for every kind of event.
The evening’s DJ line-up consists of the legendary Rubber Ron, founder of London’s fetish dance-party scene, plus Heleness, DJ Peter Andrews, Rockit Riyad and DJ Jamie Moon.
Tickets for ZDR Fairytale, available from Eventbrite (link below), cost £33 + £3.17 fee for a single and £60 + £5.27 fee for a couple. The Eventbrite page also includes a detailed description of the event.
VIP tickets at £60 + 5.27 fee have also been introduced by ZDR for the first time at this event, offering lots of extras including a VIP Balcony from which to watch all the action. Only 12 VIP tickets were on offer, and at time of writing there were just two left.
