ABOUT THE WORK
“Based on the short and difficult life cycle of the butterfly, my intention was to create work that floats between meaning and non-meaning,” explains Metamorphosis director Aidan McCarthy.
“The piece has a lot of biographical space. I am at war with the obvious, and the music was contributed by Keith Levene with whom I share
this sentiment, as well as an interest in abstraction and simplicity.
“Dominique McConnell-Wood and I developed the choreography to reflect the tension between struggle and hope that we encounter in life.
“My thanks are due to Krystina Kitsis (costume) and Julie Buckland (editor) for their creativity and friendship.”
