Torture Garden plans revealed for rest of 2017 and Coronet-less 2018.
Torture Garden plans have been confirmed for the rest of 2017, and for dates into the first half of next year. The 2017 party programme includes the club’s last ever nights at the Coronet, a US date in Dallas where it hosts a TG Latex fashion show, return visits to Edinburgh and Brighton, and lots more. And speaking exclusively to The Fetishistas, David TG explains how the club plans to cope in 2018 without the Coronet for big events like Valentines and TG’s birthday. Speaking exclusively to The Fetishistas, David TG confirmed that there wasn’t another multi-room London venue of the Coronet’s scale available to the club.
“Large venues such as Brixton Academy, Troxy, Pulse and Print Works didn’t want TG for various personal or licensing reasons,” he explained. “So after checking every possible option over the last two years, we hit a dead end.”
But, he continued, over the last 27 years of TG events, when one door has closed, another has always opened. Faced with the current situation, the TG team reasoned that biggest wasn’t always best, and perhaps diversity was the key.
“If we couldn’t find everything we want in one massive venue, then let’s split it up and do a weekend of two different venues that cover all bases as a combined TG experience,” he said. “It was also good to go back to multiple events to make a weekend trip to London more attractive for travelling UK and international TG fans.”
This, he said, was why Torture Garden plans for 2018 included choosing Electric Brixton as next year’s venue for its Valentines and Birthday Balls. “Electric Brixton will cater for our main glamorous Saturday Ball experience with a big Coronet theatre style stage for big shows, and big dancefloor arena.
“And then the Friday will cater more for the multiple rooms and dungeon play rooms experience at Fire and Electrowerkz.”
David told us the club was also looking to “spread the UK Torture Garden experience out more” in 2018. This would include five or six Brighton Manor House parties, and expansion of its regular Edinburgh events to Glasgow.
“Luckily the demand for Torture Garden is as strong as ever,” he added, “so our attendances will stay the same but spread over more events.
“But hopefully,” he concluded, “a massive dream venue will appear sometime in the not too distant future!”
In the meantime, Torture Garden plans for its final London dates of 2017 begin at the end of this month with its last party at Fire in Vauxhall, a popular new venue for the club this year.
In October, although there is no TG Ball at London Fetish Weekend, TG will co-host pop-up shopping at Le Boutique Bazaar as part of LFW, and will both end October and start November with two big Halloween bashes at the Coronet.
Further November dates for Torture Garden see it returning to the Dallas Fetish Ball, to Edinburgh and to Brighton during the course of the month.
Finally, early December will see TG’s last ever Coronet Ball, followed by the club’s traditional Not New Year’s Eve celebration at Ministry of Sound.
Below is a round-up of all Torture Garden plans for the remainder of 2017, as well as the 2018 dates it has scheduled so far.
