FIRST AND LAST: Marquis No1 published in 1994, and No63, with Belinda Bärtzner’s Starfucked cover
Marquis No63 will be final issue of famous fetish mag.
Marquis No 63, the latest issue of the famous German fetish magazine, will also be its last, barring some miraculous intervention — publisher and editor-in-chief Peter Czernich has confirmed.
“Without her,” he said in a note to Marquis colleagues in early May, “I cannot and will not continue.”
The decision to split up accelerated the couple’s plans, pursued over the last two years, to sell the business.
Their efforts culminated earlier this month with Peter able to announce that all of the company has been sold in “a very good deal for Bianca and me”. He said it now allowed the pair to split in peace, without worry.
Fans of Marquis and its various co-brands and products will be pleased to hear that Peter will still have considerable involvement despite selling the company.
“Things here will pick up again soon,” he continued. “New girls are employed, there will be an all-new showroom soon, a catalogue in the Fall, and you will see the new Marquis Fashion collection at some big fetish events soon, maybe in the Fall, or more likely Spring 2016.
“I’ll keep my studio, do photo shoots, and continue publishing Heavy Rubber, and most of all, fetish photo books.

The one big disappointment amid the generally good news is that no buyer was found for Marquis magazine itself, despite its re-offer for sale on much more generous terms than when first put on the market.
Czernich had dropped his original asking price, replacing it with a relatively small, one-time upfront payment, to be followed by a royalty payment on publication of each new issue.

The new terms attracted some potential buyers who apparently indicated that they were “90 percent decided” before suddenly pulling out — but only after getting sight of all the mag’s business data.
So that’s why, with no buyer, Peter has declared that Marquis No63 is “definitely my last issue, and may even be the last one altogether unless a miracle happens”.
“But,” he adds optimistically, “never say never…”
With the transfer of the business concluded, the Solingen-based publisher says he is looking forward to taking some time out, and is planning a trip to London for “a little gathering with old buddies”.
