Covid tests and dinner, then a pre-party outfit shoot
While Day 1 of the Fair occupied Friday 27 afternoon, our group plan for early Friday evening involved both dinner and finding a nearby testing station to get the official covid test needed for later entry to FetishGuerilla Revolution at KitKat.
Meeting up at the Fair with Cole, Psycatt and Digital Lioness, we agreed that getting tested was our first priority, and some quick phone-browsing revealed a Kreuzberg test location apparently quite near to the Fair.
Perhaps it was just the tortuous backstreet route taken by the Uber driver that made it seem not quite as close as it had first appeared. But when we did eventually get there, at least the place was open, and with no queue.
The fact that the testing operation was run by a single woman sitting behind a desk in the little terraced space up some steps from the pavement really brought home to me the difference in the street cultures of Berlin and London.
Official testing spaces in London had already been shut down. But even if they were still open, I could not imagine it being considered safe for such a space to be operated (seemingly) by a lone woman.
Anyway, we got our (free) tests and, with the necessary negative results on our phones, set about finding a local place for dinner, ending up at a restaurant called Lausebengel, right next door to the test centre.
It was an excellent choice, serving modern Berlin cuisine in an atmosphere that was friendly and attentive without overdoing it. We left feeling we’d been looked after by people who genuinely cared about serving us food we’d enjoy.
After dinner, we all headed back to the nhow, arriving with time to get ready at a leisurely pace for our later assault on FetishGuerilla.
I was ready and just chillin’ in my room when I got a message suggesting I pop up to the Pandora Deluxe suite for a quick chat, with my camera.
When I got there I found Pandora designer Magdalena and partner Michael with Psycatt and Ms Lioness. They were all in their outfits and the girls asked if I’d shoot a few pre-party lookbook shots before we headed out.
I obliged, and couldn’t resist including a mini-gallery from the shoot, below, in this GFB 2022 Report Part 2. It features a pink bathroom and three shots of each with their looks at peak pre-party perfection, before the night could extract its inevitable toll!

But my fear that checking everyone’s phones for negative test results would slow things down proved groundless. Checks were completed speedily and, as all our group were able to join the short guest list line, we reached the door quickly. Then it was just a matter of getting past the front desk to form the impressions and take the photos necessary for this GFB 2022 Report Part 2. This is not so easy if you’re a photographer, even after you’ve been checked-off on FetishGuerilla’s photographer guestlist. Beyond the front desk, KitKat has another security guy who, not for the first time, stopped me with my camera bag and marched me back to the front desk where FetishGuerilla’s Martin Pelzer had to vouch for me in person. But what would this venue be without its charming little eccentricities, eh? On the other hand, one of its plus points compared with other Berlin establishments is the relative speed with which you can get served drinks at its bars. Once they let you in, at least. Heading with LFTV’s Cole Black (tonight sans camera) towards the small bar near the entrance that often has the fastest service led to an encounter with a group of Londoners milling around the bar area, including the very affable Miss Eevee. She and her pals became my first photo subjects of the evening, striking a bunch of fun poses that eased me nicely into shooting party people for my GFB 2022Report Part 2. Later on I sought out another of the venue’s welcome features: the pool area, a naturally cool recovery space for when the heat and smoke in the rest of the venue become too much. Just to be clear, it’s the air around the pool that provides the requisite cooling effect. You don’t actually have to jump into the water — although certain models have been known to do so! Among my personal poolside highlights was photographing and chatting with a lovely trio of kinksters — mom, dad and daughter — who had come all the way from Mexico for the event. I also bumped into London photographer pal MarcusT with his partner Yasmin — the first time I’d met her in the flesh despite having seen scores of pix of the two of them together on Facebook. Staying around the KitKat pool also provided my third encounter with Kenza, Josselin Guichard’s friend/ex, this time wearing a latex body/swimsuit immediately recognisable as one of Josselin’s classic Hedony Design pieces. It was also inevitable that at some point, I would bump into FetishGuerilla’s Terrible Twins, Anne ‘Blondie’ Bengard and Das Fräulein Fuchs, doing one of their many club walkabouts. They divide their time at these parties between handing out various cooling treats, announcing the shows by megaphone, and — tonight, anyway —requiring male guests to pay homage to a large, pink inflatable penis. Ironically, despite the Twins’ announcements, I didn’t manage to catch any of this year’s KitKat shows for my planned GFB 2022 Report Part 2. Doing so involves effort and luck at the best of times, and I’m afraid I just wasn’t that keen to leave the cooling atmosphere of the pool area. This meant that I missed the advertised shows by Ginger Synne, Evelyn Frantic, Juicy Bondage (aka Evelyn Frantic & Chika Takahashi), Chiqui Love and SashaKillsYou. I also did not catch Charlyne’s dungeon play or make it to the dedicated Studio Lovemasters floor where they were hosting their club within a club. I’m genuinely sorry to have missed them, so I hope they managed to have a good time without me. I bet they did, as at FetishGuerilla Revolution, the party vibe itself is very much the main thing and everything else is a bonus. Heading back to the small bar, I reconnected with Cole and Psycatt who said they were feeling like they’d had enough. Psycatt in particular had already been suffering badly from hay fever, which had been made worse by all the smoking in KitKat (another of the club’s little quirks). So we three agreed we would call it a night and head back to the nhow. It was the earliest I’ve ever got back to the hotel after a FetishGuerilla party — I mean, the sun had not even come up, which felt quite strange. But it also felt like quite a good way to get more out of Saturday than I normally would during a German Fetish Ball Weekend.
