FRIDAY MAY 11 2018
10pm: FetishGuerilla Revolution
KitKatClub, Köpernicker Strasse 76, 10179
Regarded by serious party people as (aside from the Ball itself) the event of the weekend to be seen at, FetishGuerilla Revolution takes place at its usual KitKatClub home. But for only the second time, the substantial basement area will be opened up to ease the crush on the main floor.
Populated by heroes of the local DJ and performance scenes as well as acts from further afield, FGR provides an authentic slice of Berlin clubbing life, and the vibe is often compared to that of a big Torture Garden night.
DJs scheduled for this year are FG residents Faray, Aline&Suné and Räubertöchtäs, regulars Christopher Lawrenz and Drama Nui, plus DJ Pandemonium and Kasey Riot, and first-timer the figurehead from Leipzig. More may be added for the Rock/Punk/Alternative Floor.
There’ll be performances by TG veterans Empress Stah and Amrita, as well as Superfly Suspension Crew and Topanga Love.
KItKatClub gets pretty warm, so the covered pool area is a boon for chilling (actual swimming not permitted). It can also have the most breathable air, given KitKat’s famous disregard for the city’s smoking laws.
There’s a ‘dress to impress’ dresscode that most people take pretty seriously. Admission is €25 on the door, with presale on the GFB website (individual and as part of the VIP ticket) still being negotiated at time of writing.
However, presale tickets at €22.50 will definitely be available from at least one Berlin store — Hautnah — and possibly more.
FREE FETISHGUERILLA REVOLUTION TICKETS! The Fetishistas will have three pairs of tickets to give away for this year’s FG Revolution party. Look out for more details soon on our Facebook page and in our Newsletters.
SATURDAY MAY 12 2018
12-7pm: German Fetish Fair Day 2
Magazin in der Herresbäckerei, Köpernicker Str 16/17, 10997
With tickets again at €15 in advance or €18 on the door, the second day of the Fair closes one hour earlier than on Friday 11. Other details are as provided under the listing for Day 1 on the previous page.
9pm: German Fetish Ball XV
Spindler & Klatt, Köpernicker Str 16/17, 10997
Ball venue Spindler & Klatt shares the same street address as the Fair venue, but is at the other end of the complex, overlooking the River Spree.
Attractions of the venue include a canopied, open-air riverside bar and, down on the river itself, a pontoon with lots of additional tables and seating. If the weather is warm (which with luck it will be), this can be a wonderful spot to chill out and watch the sun come up over the city.
The Ball and its shows take place inside S&K’s hangar-like structure, with one large main auditorium accommodating stage, catwalk, dancefloor and bars, and a smaller separate dancefloor off to one side near the main entrance.
For dancers, the Main Floor will feature electro spun by Hedo (of Wilde Orchideen, Leipzig) while DJ Alf and his personal DJane take charge of the ’80s and Gothic Floor in the side room.
As always, the fashion shows (which can sometimes start as early as one hour after doors open) are an indispensible part of the evening’s entertainment.
Four of this year’s designers hail from Germany, two are from the UK and one is from Italy. In alphabetical order they are:
Amentium (Liverpool), Chiracc (Berlin), Jaded Jewall (Hamburg), Marie Devilreux (London), Mrs Gravedigger Latex (Frankfurt), MyWitchery (Römstedt) and VinNoir (Milan).
Expect the fashion action to be punctuated by announcements of this year’s European Fetish Award winners and probably some celebratory chat about promoter Xklusiv’s two anniversaries this year: not just 15 years of German Fetish Balls but 20 years of Castle Parties too!
There are normally also two or three fetish perform- ances breaking up the catwalk shows. Those for GFB 2018 are currently being finalised and when known, we’ll include them in an update.
Tickets for the Ball cost €55 on presale or €60 on the door, and admission is of course covered by the GFB VIP ticket. A strict fetish dresscode will be in operation.
SUNDAY MAY 13 2018
11am: GFB Breakfast & Farewell
Cayetano, Simon-Dach-Str 14, 10245
(corner of Kopernikusstr)
Final official event of the GFB 2018 Weekend is the traditional GFB Breakfast and Farewell, which is more of a brunch really.
They’ll be serving from 11am and it generally goes on until mid/late afternoon. You don’t have to eat — you can just have a coffee.
Nevertheless we doff our caps annually to those who make it to this gathering after pulling an all-nighter at Spindler & Klatt.
Model Call for GFB Fashion Shows
The GFB fashion shows depend as much on the willing participation of models as of designers.
So if you’re a model who loves latex or other fetish style and you fancy the chance to strut your stuff on the GFB 2018 catwalk, just follow the GFB Model Call link below to create a profile and register as a GFB model.
You should then receive a link by e-mail that will take you to all the info you should need as a potential GFB model.
Note that you’ll be expected to supply suitable images for use when the official GFB website’s 2018 model page is put together a little closer to the event.
Staying in Berlin
The GFB website includes a hotels page (link below) listing a dozen hotels popular with GFB visitors, with ratings from one to four stars and all within two kilometres of the main venues.
The site also suggests five of the city’s renowned five-star hotels for those looking for the ultimate in luxurious indulgence for their GFB 2018 stay.
Finally, Airbnb continues to be a popular alternative to conventional hotels for visitors to Berlin. Despite the supposed clampdown on Airbnb by the city authorities, there is plenty of availability on the site at time of writing. And don’t forget: other room/apartment-booking websites are also available!
