Fetish Evolution 2017: a preview of Easter in Essen (pix from FE 2016).
Fetish Evolution 2017 takes place as usual over the Easter weekend in Essen. With just five weeks to go, the organisers are busily recruiting designers, models and performers for the shows, and exhibitors for the two day fashion/art expo. Our day-by-day preview takes a detailed look at the programme so far and discovers a strong mix of familiar events and promising innovations. As usual, the central hub of the entire weekend is the official event hotel, the Bredeney, which is on the outskirts of Essen.
It accommodates the production team and many of the designers, exhibitors, models and photographers, and also hosts the two-day FE Fashion Art Expo and a couple of other events during the four-day programme.
Because the entire hotel is taken over for the event, the Bredeney becomes a closed kink community for the duration, and the unique atmosphere this creates makes it the preferred place to stay for most people attending from outside the area.
Booking rooms in the Bredeney must be done directly with the hotel (see hotels page link below), and in past years, the 293 rooms have filled up pretty quickly.
Helpfully, for those who can’t get into the Bredeney, the FE website also recommends three ‘overspill’ hotels in Essen that regularly accommodate FE visitors — although not with the same freedoms of dress accorded to Bredeney guests!
Fetish Evolution regulars will find the overall structure of this year’s programme comfortingly familiar — but there are some interesting changes for 2017 too.
For example, the first event this year is now called the Model & Makers & Pool Party, which merges the traditional Good Friday meet and greet with the tradition end-of-programme pool party.
In addition, there will be a new venue for Saturday night’s double helping of pervery: the Nuit Bizarre Dinner and Nuit Bizarre Party.
And to encourage new businesses to show their wares during the weekend, FE has introduced two special offers for newcomers, as well as a discount on stand space for established labels doing a show.
This year’s mistress of ceremonies is once again Nina de Lianin, who we expect to be officiating at the evening events on both Saturday and Sunday.
Flyer models for Fetish Evolution 2017 are Honeyhair, Caro Bones and Domina Dakota. Dressed for their flyer shoot in Lovely Latex by Brigitte More, these three ladies can reasonably be expected to have high visibility during the weekend.
Full details of the individual events — such as brands exhibiting at the Expo, labels putting on fashion shows, and models/performers participating in the weekend — were still being finalised as we were putting this preview together.
But below is what we know about the Fetish Evolution 2017 programme so far.

This event is restricted to the industry people listed above, plus attendees holding a Fetish Evolution Weekend Deluxe Package VIP Ticket.
Deluxe VIP tickets cost €229 and include admittance to all FE 2017 events except Monday 17’s Fetish Brunch and BBQ Dinner & Chill Out Pool Party.
Saturday April 15 (daytime): Fashion Art Expo – Day 1
Taking place as usual in the Hotel Bredeney conference rooms, the Expo traditionally offers two floors of clothing and product vendors, with the basement devoted to exhibiting fetish art.
The Expo — open today from 10am to 6pm — promises great shopping opportunities, with vendors from Germany and further afield offering latex, leather, accessories, toys and more.
The art floor, meanwhile, provides a rare opportunity to see the work of numerous fetish artists and photographers together in a proper gallery setting.
Theme for this year’s art exhibition is Fetish Stories, and artists interested in exhibiting should e-mail their application to artbizarre@fetishevolution.de.
Early sign-ups for 2017 art shows include Martin Serpentis, blende666 & Sarathustra (who should be familiar to Fetishistas followers) and Pedro Konijn.
Visitors to this two-day event are able to take advantage of all the amenities of the Bredeney Hotel. And for those actually staying at the Bredeney, there is the luxury of knowing your bed is only a short walk away when you’re finally all shopped out for the day.
Spaces are still available in this year’s Fashion Art Expo, and as we hinted earlier, this year’s Expo includes some fresh offers for new exhibitors.
To enable new businesses (not older than two years) to show and sell at the expo, there is a ‘newcomer rate’ for the first time this year.
The price per square metre is the same, but the minimum stand size is smaller, to accommodate new vendors on a tighter budget.
Furthermore, any ‘newcomer’ labels that are signed up for a fashion show will get their Expo space completely free of charge.
New businesses who want to take advantage of either of these offers should e-mail the organisers at
expo@fetishevolution.com putting ‘Newcomer’ in the subject field.
Established labels who do a fashion show this year will also get a discount on their stand space of 30 percent off the standard square metre rate.
Saturday April 15 (evening):
Nuit Bizarre Dinner
and Nuit Bizarre Party
Saturday’ two evening events, the Nuit Bizarre Dinner and Nuit Bizarre Party, are split between different venues this year.
The Dinner, at 7.30pm, will be held at the Bredeney and will be a buffet-style menu. If it follows tradition, there should be some fetish cabaret performances to entertain diners, but this year there is no awards gala. Tickets, price €49, are available only in advance, either online or from the Expo information table on the day.
The Nuit Bizarre party (tickets €29) was often held in past years at the same venue as the dinner, following on directly from it. This year’s party will take place from 10pm at a new club near the hotel (details tba). The warm-up for Sunday’s Ball, past Nuit Bizarre parties were renowned for their cocktail of dancing, outfit showing-off, bizarre performances and, well, cocktails.
Sunday April 15 (daytime):
Fashion Art Expo – Day 2
See the entry for Day 1 above for information about this event. Note however that on Sunday the opening times shift back an hour to 11am–7pm. And don’t forget that if you’re expecting to attend both Expo days, the €25 two-day ticket will save you money.
Sunday April 16 (evening):
Fetish Evolution Ball
Along with the special sense of community that Fetish Evolution patrons derive from staying at the Bredeney Hotel over Easter, perhaps the other genuinely unique feature of the weekend that attracts many regulars is the venue for Sunday’s Fetish Evolution Ball.
Delta, previously known as MudiaArt, is one of those industrial conversions that the Germans do so well, and has been described by seasoned pervs we know as probably the best venue in Europe for a big fetish party.
What makes it such a great setting is partly the layout and partly the interior décor of this old factory complex. The main building features a large, high-ceilinged auditorium which doubles as the main dancefloor and the main performance/fashion catwalk space.
Various interlinking spaces on the ground floor level include a chillout bar with plenty of seating, a large play area (nicely furnished by Style Fetish), an outdoor bar and the VIP bar to which VIP ticketholders have exclusive access.
Also — and particularly popular with pervs — there’s a dungeon-like basement containing numerous atmospheric nooks and crannies and a smaller dancefloor with its own bar.
The main building also boasts sculptures of exotic characters in a frieze around the walls and suspended from the ceiling, heightening the sense of being on a film set or perhaps in a chemically-induced fantasy.
A major feature of the Ball is the fashion show which generally presents a mix of home-grown and international fetish labels. The stage will also host various sideshows throughout the evening.
At publication time, we know only that FE stalwart Brigitte More will be providing one of the fashion shows. But there will of course be quite a few more in the final line-up.
Hopefully, some of these will be recent start-ups taking advantage of the special newcomers’ deals outlined above in the Fashion Art Expo section. Designers interested in taking part should e-mail: media@fetishevolution.de.
And of course, aside from designers, Fetish Evolution expects lots of your favourite fetish models to respond to its 2017 model call. The presentation of the fashion shows depends on it!
At time of writing, the FE website’s models page is still showing 2016’s roster of catwalk queens. Inevitably the final 2017 line-up won’t be exactly the same as last year’s, but a reasonable overlap can be assumed.
Models interested in attending should check out the event’s official models page for application details (link below), and should send there applications to models2017@fetishevolution.com.
Advance tickets for the 2017 Fetish Evolution Ball (start time: 10pm)cost €49, or €75 for the VIP ticket.
Monday April 17 (daytime):
Fetish Brunch; (evening): BBQ
Dinner & Chill Out Pool Party
Both these events are hosted at the Bredeney but there are no separate advance tickets and the VIP ticket doesn’t include them.
The Brunch (from 10am) is an event exclusively for Bredeney guests staying until Monday, and the cost will be covered by guests’ room prepayments.
Starting at 8.30pm, the evening BBQ, meanwhile, will be a pay-on-entry affair for everyone.
Tuesday April 18 (daytime):
Bye-Bye Breakfast
This final event (from 8am) is for Bredeney guests staying through Monday night and is, once again, covered by the prepaid room charge.
Fans of major German fetish weekends will no doubt have noticed that this year’s Fetish Evolution Weekend is much closer than normal to this year’s German Fetish Ball Weekend, which starts only ten days after FE finishes.
Normally the two events are at least six weeks apart.
Since this year’s close proximity may be a problem for people who normally like to attend both events, it is only fair to point out that this is not the fault of Fetish Evolution. FE always takes place over Easter weekend (although this is on a different date every year).
As readers of our earlier GFB preview articles will already be aware, it is the Berlin weekend that has moved closer to FE this year.
GFB moved forward a month from its original end of May slot to the May Day holiday weekend in order to avoid clashes with two other big events: Fetish Factory’s Anniversary weekend in Florida (always the last weekend in May) and the BoundCon bondage fest in Munich (which moved to the GFB’s usual dates again this year).
We understand GFB is intent on returning to its usual slot in 2018, so this should once again put a decent breathing space between it and Fetish Evolution!

STOP PRESS (March 15): Three further labels have been added to the fashion shows at Sunday’s Ball. They are British bespoke latex label Amentium; corsetry and lingerie brand Videnoir from Italy; and German label The Tailorwitch, specialising in latex and fabric designs. We expect all three to have stands at the Expo too.
